ABOUT

Asumi Sako is a Tokyo-based cinematographer.

She was born and raised in Yokohama, Japan. She was first drawn to filmmaking whilst she created a documentary for her sociology class in England, UK. After completing her degree, she studied film in earnest in Toronto, Canada. Upon returning to Japan, she started her professional career as an assistant camera primarily on narrative productions. Eager to gain experience abroad, she relocated to Sydney, Australia and began her career as a cinematographer as well as an assistant camera. She returned to Japan in 2016 and has continued to work on both domestic Japanese productions and international productions.

迫あすみ　神奈川県横浜市で生まれ育つ。
大学在学中に社会学のクラスの一環でドキュメンタリーを撮影した事から、映像でストーリーを語る面白さに気がつく。大学卒業後、カナダにて映像を専門的に学ぶ。帰国後、撮影助手として主にドラマの撮影に携わる。海外での撮影経験を積む為にオーストラリアへ渡り、撮影助手としてだけでなくカメラマンとして様々な作品を制作する。2016年に帰国後は国内作品だけでなく、海外作品にも多く携わっている。
